West Coast Eagles (Football, not Birds)

April 16, 2005

After my early morning walk, we had a lazy morning until it was time to get ready to go to the footie (and I sure hope real Australians actually call it “footie”). Daniel’s team – the West Coast Eagles – were playing the Bulldogs. On the way, we stopped and had Dim Sum for lunch (OMG YUMMY)! Then, on to the stadium!

This was my first experience with Australian football (and Connor’s, as well), and I really enjoyed the game, especially since I’d expected to be bored (sports aren’t my thing). But it was a lot of fun – they don’t call time outs for a million and one things like in so many American sports, so the action just keeps flowing. Plus, it was a lot of fun to cheer for the Eagles (especially since they won :D).The mascot for the West Coast Eagles sure is a cute little guy, huh?

Some things are universal, I guess, like the way athletes like to do the butt-pat. 😉

It was enjoyable to watch, and I learned enough about the game to keep up with the action. I’m afraid I’ve forgotten it all again by now, though.
